Made by hand in a Yorkshire studio

Footprint Pottery is a small studio where each piece is made from start to finish. Clay is shaped on the pottery wheel, left to dry slowly and then fired before being glazed and returned to the kiln.

Working in small batches allows each piece to develop its own character while remaining durable and practical for everyday use.

Made in small batches

Pottery is produced in small runs throughout the year rather than large production cycles. Often there are only a few pieces of each glaze and shape available at a time.

Once a particular combination has sold out it may not return again, which keeps the collection evolving naturally.

Handmade stoneware mugs

A favourite mug quickly becomes part of daily life. The weight in the hand, the curve of the rim and the shape of the handle all influence how it feels to use each day.

After experimenting with many forms in the studio, four mug shapes have become favourites. Each one is designed to feel comfortable to hold while still reflecting the character of wheel thrown pottery.

Because every mug is made and glazed by hand, subtle variations in form and colour make each piece unique.
